Italy 2017: Day 9

Italy 2017: Day 9

Hello again, Rome! I've learned how to not knock my head on your shutters, thanks!

We went downstairs and ate breakfast and decided to venture to the train station. Milan is a major hub, so we're on a high-speed train now headed that way. We'll see where we end up from there, no idea yet, really. I think I might venture up to the club car and get a small snack. I tell you, I'm going on a vegetarian diet for a few days when I get home. So much cured meat, cheese, and bread. I'm in heaven!

However, my body is starting to feel it. We're a touch gluten sensitive in my family, but I've said Damn the consequences! on this trip. I will need some good old veggies though when I get home. Enough about my diet, this train is rolling along at 249 kilometers per hour! We should be in Milan by 1 pm (we left at 10 am) and determining our next stop from there. No telling where we'll end up, so I'll check back in when we know.

Alright, so check it out. We hopped a train to Milan and from there, Zurich, Switzerland. This town is awesome! Quaint, beautiful, nestled between the mountains and a lake, truly stunning.

We wandered out of the train station, realizing we had no cash, we walked down the street in search of a hotel. The first one we came upon not only was priced reasonably (for Switzerland) but has its own bar and cafe underneath. It's a cool place with themed rooms and a balcony! Mom and I figured it out earlier, only Verona so far has not had a balcony. We have really lucked out.

The view is of the river and the buildings beyond. We decided to venture out for dinner and wandered a bit through the area where we're staying. We ended up crossing the river and eating at the Movie Restaurant in Zurich, which sadly, is closing in a few months. Their landlords are renovating and would not renew their lease. Bastards.

It was phenomenal. Mom got Mac and cheese, I got fajitas and everything was delicious. We rolled ourselves back to our hotel and had another round of drinks mixed downstairs before we headed up. Now, we're sitting on the balcony, people watching and drinking (and blogging, in my case). Ask around, great impression, Zurich. Thank you for being awesome.

Tomorrow, we head to Paris for our final day. Somehow our feels both an eternity and an instant since we left. True dichotomy. It's been a fabulous trip so far with surprised at every turn (not the least of which being moons sudden allergic reaction to Rome). Read up tomorrow for the final days.

Thanks, y'all!
