Italy 2017: Day 10

Italy 2017: Day 10

Another travel day. We woke up in Zurich on the river, had breakfast at our hotel with what was the BEST COFFEE of the trip! I had my reservations about Switzerland, but Zurich fixed that. I WILL be returning to this place.

We took a train from Zurich to Paris, the most expensive reservation yet at an embarrassingly high price. Usually, reservations with the Eurail are 10 euros or so, this one was 39 Swiss francs. Astronomical! But cheaper than full price so, silver linings. We also struggled with seating. We could not afford first-class and the second class with the Eurail is open seating only. So between nearly every stop, we're playing musical train seats with people who had reserved seat numbers (unlike us rabble).

We got to Paris, avoided the commotion, took the metro to the airport where we caught a shuttle to our hotel for the night. I can see FedEx plans loading up and heading out from our window. This is a gorgeous hotel, the Hilton Charles de Gaulle. Beauty everywhere and great food and drink. I guess only business people really stay here, so they make the drinks really strong.

After dinner, we listened to a man play the piano in the lobby and came upstairs. Rifling through the channels (first time we've turned on the tv, btw) we found a movie. Airplane. That's right! We watched it until mom fell asleep. I turned off the tv and now I'm writing this before I pass out too. Goodnight everyone, home tomorrow.

Thanks, y'all!
