Italy 2017: Day 5

Italy 2017: Day 5

Blogging as I go helps, so let's do that again. It's almost 10 AM, mom's still asleep and I'm laying here listening to the loudest hotel I think I've ever been at this hour. I can't believe she's sleeping through this. It sounds like someone is dragging cans on chains across gravel upstairs above us. What the Hell? People are loud in the hallway and walk quite heavily here.

Today, we're going to hotfoot it to Zadar, Croatia and see what happens. Once we're up and moving, we'll get breakfast and head to the train station to get it started.

On the train to Trieste, fighting our way to Zadar. When I say fighting, I really mean cozy and comfy in reclining chairs with a table and free coffee. Yeah, the struggle is real.

We booked a high-speed train and grabbed first-class seats. This is definitely how you travel, my friends. I've used the time and the table to catch up on my notes from the trip and ideas for future blogs. Every time I travel, I learn something new. This time, it's having two wallets to help manage 4 different currencies.

I also came up with a topic that would be helpful if you've never been on a train trip through Europe. Travel potties. Yup, I'm going to write an article about train toilets. Taking the pictures for it felt strange, to say the least, and before you think the worst of me, KNOW that there was no business going on during the photoshoot. The pictures are merely a reference to show you what to look for when the day comes.

What can I say? Dedication?

What can I say? Dedication?

We shall see what the station in Trieste holds for us along the way. It's only 2 in the afternoon, so we have plenty of time to work it out (we hope). I'll check in later.

On the bus!

On the bus!

Trieste did not have a train to Zadar, so we got a bus. Finding a hotel with a 24-hour front desk was a trip, but we worked it out. This bus has Wi-Fi, so I'm thinking photos will happen along this 6-hour journey. Everyone has been complaining, so I will handle that now. The plan sounds now like we will leave Zadar tomorrow morning/lunchtime ish and had to Split where we will hop a ferry to Italy. Then the rest of the trip to Rome and back to Paris to head home.

I just booked the ferry to Italy rising along on this awesome bus with Wi-Fi and USB chargers. So, the plan is on! Short sleep tonight, more travel, big boat, fast train, Rome. Boom! Traveled! (That really loses something in writing, oh well, I'm excited)

Considering it's the end of the day, I'll leave off with a simple picture and call it.   ok, I was going to take a picture of me laughing while my mom sleeps, but karma caught up. The bus driver shut off the lights right when I was hitting the damn button. Alas, no photo. I guess I'll have to wait and catch a picture of our home for the night.

Another balcony room! With a view of the pool.

We're here! A lovely bus ride that was about two hours too long along the Adriatic (in the dark)  and we've arrived. There was a taxi waiting! We rode into the hotel and now we're surveying the room and going to pass OUT! It's 1 in the morning. Goodnight everybody.

Thanks, y'all!
