Italy 2017: Day 6

Italy 2017: Day 6

Good morning! We've awoken in Dalmatia and made our way to the Sea Organ. The music truly it's beautiful and you know, the rain has been chasing us this whole trip. It started in Paris and had followed us to every city. With luck, when we skip back to Rome, it'll be gone. We shall see.

The music was pretty cool and unique. I hear that no two moments in time are the same for the tune. The coastline is gorgeous and Nebraska are still stunning.

We've opted for a taxi to Split to get us to the port instead of risking Croatian bus variability. It's more than we really wanted to spend, but it'll get us there in less than half the time and get us straight to the port. Considering neither of us speaks Croatian, this is for the best. I learned "thank you" from the cab driver who helped us get a ride to Split.

There are McDonald's EVERYWHERE!  Just so you know. And they all taste different, it's pretty cool.

Onto Split to catch our boat. That'll be an article all on its own, I think. So, stay tuned!

We're sitting at the port now, we made it in just fine on our cab and walked around to the shops. We've purchased some minor things and now we are waiting for our 6:15 boarding time. It's 3. UGH.

I've just had a delicious cappuccino and mom had tea and Becker this we ate kebab sandwiches at a local shop with enough fries to kill a small child. We're realizing now that we have covered almost every form of travel on this trip. Taxi, bus, plane, we're waiting on a boat and all that's left will be the metro.

Side note about the metro in Rome. The first time I went to Rome in 2008, there were only two metro lines, A & B. When I went back in 2015, they were constructing a third, line C. And now! in 2017, the third line may be complete. I'm excited to find out and I WILL be taking a ride if that is the case. It's become such an integral part of my Rome memories, I simply must participate. Ok, side note over. Thanks for listening! Back to our regularly scheduled blogging.

We've booked a berth for the night, so we'll be able to sleep (we hope) comfortably. I'll definitely share pictures, WiFi permitting, and mom gets to experience her first European ferry.

Sitting at a table by the window in the bar on the ferry in the Adriatic. This is the life.

We've purchased a half bottle of fabulous Croatian wine. Plavac Blato a slightly chilled red that is fantastic! Mom is hoping the train will subside long enough for her to see stars. Only time will tell. After this bottle, we'll venture and find something to eat, grab another bottle and head out to the deck, to the room, wherever. Cheers to an evening of intrigue.

No roommates, we had our cabin to ourselves. The sea was choppy, so we slept well. When I say "well", what I really mean is I woke up every couple hours with scenes of Titanic in my head. Yeah, I've never been afraid to sail before, but I've never stayed in a cabin on a European ferry before either. Eek.

No WiFi on the boat meant no posting on time, apologies. So, this one is a day late.
