Italy 2017: Day 1

Italy 2017: Day 1

Day 1, first day in Paris.  Here's what we have going on today!  We woke up and walked down to a cafe near the Fontaine de St. Michel and enjoyed some delicious chocolat chaud, crepe banane, an omelet, and hot tea. Perfect breakfast.

We went to the Louvre today and enjoyed the visit.  That place is massive and we only really went to see the Mona Lisa.  The lines were vicious and people were everywhere, but it was only 15 Euros to get in.  It was worth it.  The line was about an hour, so not terrible(compared to the 2 hour wait to the Eiffel Tower).

After that, we came back to the hotel and dressed for dinner at Le Grand Colbert.  The food was amazing and the service was great.  Remember that in France, dinners are long.  We were there for an hour and half and the waiter commented that we weren't there very long.  The restaurant had WiFi and everything.  Truly amazing experience.

We walked for a bit after dinner to try and work off some of the food and caught a cab back after we'd had enough.  We bought a bottle of wine, a baguette, and some cookies at a shop in the Latin Quarter and came back to the room where we camped out on the balcony for a while and drank and chatted.  Another amazing day in Paris.  Tomorrow, we head to Bern Switzerland and maybe I'll get to the pictures I promised.  My apologies.  If you are a loyal reader, then you know that my dog got very ill right before this trip.  The time I had earmarked for uploading photos was commandeered by coordinating things for her care stateside with her guardian while I am away.  Many thanks to my good friend for helping with this, especially in this extremely stressful time.

Tomorrow, Bern, Einstein House, here we come!  Keep reading to see what we do next (and see, eventually).

Thanks, y'all!
