Travel Cards

Hey, y'all!

I don't normally do this, but I am going to let you know about one off the ways that you can make your travels a little more feasible and easier, both on your wallet and your time.  Payment methods are important whenever you travel and for the sake of getting this out of the way now: Yes, I am going to tell you about a product and no, they aren't paying me to tell you about it.  I am simply a loyal customer who wants to share my experiences with you so that you know what options are available.  Disclaimer out of the way, let's get to it.

Chase Sapphire Cards

My Chase Sapphire Reserve Card that has treated me very well over the years.

My Chase Sapphire Reserve Card that has treated me very well over the years.

Again, not a sponsor.  I have been with Chase for a very long time and recently dabbled in the world of the Sapphire cards that they offer.  I was looking around for a card that had the whole "points" thing that I always hear people talking about.  I went to my favorite website for information The Points Guy, also not a sponsor.  I read about the different cards that he has researched and landed on the Chase Sapphire Preferred as my choice.  It has a low annual fee, which was new for me because I was never one to pay for a credit card before.  But, the benefits that you get from this card seemed like they were worth a shot.  The long and the short of it is, they were.

I'm not going to go into the details about the benefits, I'll refer to the expert again.  Going to this page will show you that the Preferred seems to be the preferred card of these reviewers.  They can explain the details to you.  I just want to let you know how great they have been to me.

Concierge Service

Yeah, this is real and it's awesome.  There is a number you can call and they will do travel research for you.  Hotels, rental cars, transit, flights, even dinner reservations!  I used these guys to make a reservation for me at a cool restaurant in Paris weeks before I left for the trip.  I've used them for hotel research and activity research.  You just give them an overall idea of what you are looking for and they will send you three options in a cool looking little report.

Car Rental

There are so many perks with car rentals that are worth it.  Again, I'm not going to go through the details, go read about it, but considering you don't have to pay extra for collision or roadside assistance saves a lot of money when you rent.

Trip Cancellation Insurance

This has saved me.  I planned a trip in October 2017 to Cancun with a girlfriend of mine and we decided that with the safety risks that were happening at the time that it would be better that we change our destination.  Calling Chase, they handled the cancellation beautifully.  I should mention that I booked the hotel for the trip using my points only and Chase refunded ALL my points.  Wonderful.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

This one has saved me a great deal of money, also.  There are a bunch of cards out there that offer this feature, but since I benefited from this one specifically, it makes the list.

The Moral of the Story...

Don’t take my word for it, check out Susan Ladika’s additional information over at creditcards.com and see what you think. I have since upgraded to the Chase Sapphire Reserve which is more expensive, but has more benefits.  The point of this was to illustrate the great service and functionality of these cards.  I enjoy mine, I partake in the benefits.  Research it more if you are thinking about getting a vacation type card.
