Ireland 2016: Another day of transit

The day began early with a ride to the airport with the most interesting stories from our very Irish cab driver.

He told us about when he was born and that his mother was one Hell of a woman. My favorite part of the story was about the preacher. Apparently in Ireland of you're a woman and you're not pregnant, the preacher wants to know why. And they're also quite concerned about leaving the children at home. So, his mother went to the store and left her 11 children at home (obviously the oldest children were watching the younger) and she ran into the preacher. He asked her quite gruffly what she thought she was doing and she looked at him and said: "fuck off!"

I instantly love this man's mother. She told him that she was taking care of her children by buying food and she proceeded to tell him to never come around her house again. We were laughing so hard our sides hurt.

The airport was an adventure, I'm here to tell you. You have to check-in at the ticket counter to get your pre-check sticker, then proceed through Irish security (where you shouldn't ask the gentleman behind the tale about what you can and can't have on you, he gets offended if you yell at him to inquire).

After security, you go to customs which is preceded by a secondary security checkpoint, American style. Now, if you're lucky like me, you have the "SSSS"  printed on your boarding pass and have to do extra scanning. That was fun, but it didn't slow us up too bad.

We made it into the terminal and there's NO good hardly down there and no shops, so if you want souvenirs, get to the airport early. You'll need 3 hours, to begin with, so stack up a little more if you want to shop.

Onto the plane we got and home we flew. Landing safely in Charlotte, I set out in search of a pair of flip flops, determined to find my shoes before my vacation was over. They were too expensive and a size too small, but I was desperate-having been wearing the same shoes for my entire trip.

Long story short, these itchy, expensive, too small shoes carried me to the plane and broke as I was getting in my seat. Perfect.

Another long day of travel and it's good to get home. Another early day tomorrow, but this time it's getting up for work at 4:30 AM.

I hope you enjoyed reading about this trip and rising along with us on our trek through Ireland, Northern Ireland, and England.

Thanks, y'all!
