Italy 2018: Day 4

Italy 2018: Day 4

Today is the day for the Vatican Museum tour. This is one of my favorite parts about coming to Rome. Seeing all of the beauty inside is breathtaking and it gets a little overwhelming sometimes.

St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican

There are a few things about getting into the Vatican that are good to know, but mostly it’s just the fact that you have to haggle your way in, but it’s not the end of the world. Everywhere you look, there is another piece of art that was made a ridiculous number of years ago that will make your mind melt.

I also recommend going to the Colosseum after the Vatican. Once you’ve been overwhelmed with all this beauty, it’s best to look at some old stuff for a little while. The Colosseum is the ticket. When you purchase into the Colosseum, you are also granted access to the Forum across the street. While you can spend all afternoon in the Colosseum, the Forum has so much more to see as far as individual pieces go.

The ruins in the Forum are an easy place to kill a few hours.

The Forum, Rome, Italy

Rome is one of the easiest cities to roam in, pardon the pun, and it is a wonderful place to get lost. After we left the Forum, we wandered around for another few hours and made our way to dinner. Near the Area Sacra di Largo Argentina, we found Caffe Argentina up the street from our hotel and sat down on the patio for another wonderful meal in Italy.

There was a young lady and her father sitting at the table next to us who were also visiting Rome. They were from India and delightful to speak with. The daughter translated for her father, but we had a lovely conversation about the Vatican and where to wander, etc. It’s amazing how social you become when you travel, at least it’s that way for me.

This is it for us today. I hope that you enjoyed the next step in the story. Check out tomorrow’s story.

Thanks, y’all!
